The 2018 Crosstrek offers either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission. One big difference in these transmissions is the fuel economy. The manual gets 29 mpg highway, with the CVT boosting it to 33, making the CTV the clear option. Overall, it cannot outperform the 2018 Encore at its best.

The hood is low and slightly steep with the lights and grill stretching across the front. It is not unappealing, but vastly different from the elegantly compact appearance of 2018 Encores.
