The 2018 Buick Encore vs. 2018 Honda CR-V are both SUVs that fall on the smaller side, but only the 2018 Encore truly captures the art of compact efficiency. There are many variables you can look for in a vehicle to decide what makes it the right one for you, but there are a few main ones that always must be noted.
In appearance, performance, and standard features there are many ways both the Encore and CR-V shine. That being said, it is all a matter of personal taste. The 2018 Buick Encore is smaller, very affordable, more resourceful, and easier to drive, while the Honda CR-V is bigger and more technical in style and ability.

  • Features

Without fun features, a car is just a metal box that moves. That being said it is also important to know what features come standard and won’t start pushing up that starting price. The 2018 Buick Encore is already an affordable option for its class, but adding the fact that it has such a hearty list of standards compared to the slightly bigger and pricier 2018, Honda CR-V makes it even better.

    2018 Buick Encore

There are a few standard convenience and comfort features that the 2018 Buick Encore offers that the 2018 Honda CR-V does not. On this list, there is an alarm, keyless start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated mirrors, illuminated vanity mirrors, and navigation from telematics. This on top of all the other amazing standard features that it does share with the CR-V really puts it as one of the best value vehicles on the market.

    2018 Honda CR-V

There is a list of features, albeit smaller than the Buicks that the 2018 Honda CR-V offers that the Buick Encore does not. This list includes auto-off headlights, trip computer, and the optional luggage rack, parking aid, and heated steering wheel. If the standards just will not satisfy, the 2018 Honda CR-V will start getting fairly pricey as you move up the trim ladder, but the upgradable features will leave you breathless.

  • Aptitude

Aptitude means under the hood attitude, and both of these small SUVs contain plenty. Being an even smaller vehicle, the 2018 Buick Encore will have lower horsepower than that of the 2018 Honda CR-V, but that difference isn’t too damaging. Also, being smaller gives the 2018 Encore an edge in handling crowded streets. So, in the end, this is a battle between power and precision.

    2018 Buick Encore

Available in both forward-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, the 2018 Buick Encore gives drivers the ability to take on a multitude of roads. The all-wheel drive is an option for all trims except the standard option and is only a few thousand more to gain endless driving versatility.

The 2018 Encore also offers two engine options. The 1.4L DOHC turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is the standard option and pushes 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque for all your daily driver needs. This is the only option available for the basic 1SV and Preferred trim options. The other 1.4L engine is a turbo engine with start-stop technology that offers 153 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque to bring out the 2018 Encore true abilities.

The 2018 Buick Encore is not the most powerful vehicle on the market, but there is nothing that is going to stop it from getting you exactly where you need to be in the simplest and most dependable way possible.

    2018 Honda CR-V

The 2018 Honda CR-V also offers all-wheel drive for all trims levels for only $1,400 more than its standard 2WD. In addition to that, the 2018 CR-V contains two powerful engines. Honda as a company is very technical, and their engine options are directly linked to the trim you choose. The 2.4L 4-cylinder engine offers 184 hp and 180 lb-ft in torque and is only in the basic LX trim level. The 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo engine slightly increases that power to 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque and is the only engine option for every other trim level. The 2018 Honda CR-V may not give many options, but what they offer is always exactly what you need.

  • Cosemtics

It may seem shallow, but appearance does matter. Size, presence, tincture options, and overall cosmetic versatility will all play a part in your satisfaction as a buyer and a driver.
The main difference that anyone can see from first glance between the 2018 Encore and 2018 CR-V is the size. The 2018 Encore by Buick is slightly smaller, making it perfect for the city driver who likes to keep it uniquely compact but contains plenty of storage for that go, go, go, lifestyle, while the 2018 Honda CR-V is bigger and more made up for your basic family environment.

    2018 Buick Encore

The 2018 Buick Encore is 163-inches in length and contains 48.4 ft³ of total cargo availability. When it comes to the presence this model offers, you will find it to be humble in size, but tasteful in design. Every inch of the 2018 Encore has been engineered so well that just looking at it makes you feel at peace with the world, and perfectly in balance. Not only are its fixtures flawlessly placed, some of them, such as the combed style grilled and smooth yet widely curved sides, push it beyond balanced, and turn it into a truly unique piece of automotive manufacturing.

Clearly, you could always get your vehicle repainted or reupholstered, but who has the time or money to waste on that. The 2018 Buick Encore offers nine exterior colors and three interior colors that will fit any variety of cosmetic desires. Every model of the 2018 Encore offers the sweet Black Cherry, energetic Coastal Blue, or chic Ebony Twilight metallic paint options for the exterior, and seamless Ebony interior. Upgrade to any other trim level besides the base trim, and the options triple adding such choices as the golden Coppertino and chill Quicksilver exterior paints and the dark tannish Shale interior option. Finally, with four captivating wheel options, when it comes to style options, this Buick Encore can do no wrong.

The 2018 Buick Encore perfects the idea of stylish compact vehicles with optimal space and leaves the rest up to your imagination and desire.

    2018 Honda CR-V

The design of the 2018 Honda CR-V is well suited for everyday life. Nothing about its presence stands out as too bold and messy, and it’s sized just right at 181-inches in length to create a large amount of cargo space fitting for your daily shopping trips, or a much needed weekend getaway.

The 2018 Honda CR-V offers up to ten exterior colors and three interior colors. It is a bit confusing, but some of the interior color options are highly dependent on not just the trim but the exterior color option. For example, if you want the exciting Basque Red Pearl exterior color, you will only be able to get the gray interior option, or if you want the smoothly unique Dark Olive, you will need to upgrade to anything but the basic trim level and can only get the Black interior. For the standard LX trim, you can get six of the nine exterior colors, but the interior options are all luck of the draw.

The 2018 Honda CR-V is amazingly well-rounded in design and has the ability to fit in almost anywhere, but it is just as technical with its cosmetics options, as it is with what’s under the hood.
