What is Super Cruise and how does it work?
Super Cruise is both a safety and convenience technology that will be found in the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV when it arrives. Not only does Super Cruise allow you to set a desired speed to maintain during highway driving, like the original Cruise Control feature, as well as to set your desired following distance like in the Adaptive Cruise Control features that have grown in popularity over the past few years, but it even takes things a step further.
It includes an automatic lane changing feature, which determines when it’s not only safe but optimal to change lanes. It will then initiate the maneuver for you, even turning on the appropriate signal. What’s more, is that Super Cruise is the first truly hands-free advanced driver-assistive safety technology in the industry. You don’t have to have your hands on the steering wheel for any of these features to kick in.
The technology combines a driver attention system with a precision LiDAR map data to deliver the full experience. The new 2022 GMC HUMMER EV will come standard with three years of Super Cruise service, which can be utilized on well over 200,000 miles of roadways throughout the continental United States and Canada, as long as those roads are compatible.
