Is GMC a sustainable vehicle brand to buy? With Earth Day 2022 coming up, many of us are assessing the way we shop, especially for vehicles, which can make up a large portion of a person’s carbon footprint. Thankfully, GMC is dedicated to sustainability with the GM Climate Equity Fund, new electric GMC vehicles, and more. What has the GM Climate Equity Fund done so far? 

GM is the parent company of GMC, and eight months ago, GM created the Climate Equity Fund, which supports nonprofit organizations to implement solutions for a zero-emissions, carbon-neutral future. Basically, the goal of this fund is sustainability, and GM has recently announced it will be doubling the fund. Here are some of the projects that the Climate Equity Fund has supported so far. 

• Creating clean energy jobs by supporting companies like Valley Clean Air Now and The Greening of Detroit.  
• Building sustainable transportation by supplying funds to companies such as EVHybridNoire, Clean Fuels Ohio, Forth Mobility Fund, and GRID Alternatives.  
• Supporting community climate action by funding companies like Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice and WE ACT for Environmental Justice. 
• Working towards the above three goals by supporting a total of 21 nonprofit organizations so far. 

Is GM or GMC a carbon neutral company?  

Not yet, but GM has announced plans to become carbon neutral by 2040. Part of this plan includes the introduction of more electric vehicles, including electric GMC models such as the GMC Hummer EV and the GMC Sierra EV truck, both of which will be available here at Carl Black Roswell. We expect more of our inventory to become electric as GMC makes the switch.
