What is a Lane Keeping Assist system in a vehicle?

How do Lane Keep Assist features work? They use sensors to sense the lane lines on the road. Using these, the system can help prevent your car from drifting out of its lane. Buick vehicles with this advanced safety system are available here at Carl Black Roswell in Roswell, GA.

How do I turn on my Buick car’s Lane Keep Assist system?

To get started using your Lane Keep Assist system, press the button to turn it on. The button shows a vehicle between lane lines. Then, all you do is continue driving as normal. If you start to drift out of the lane, the system will alert you with brief, gentle steering. Additional alerts may follow if you don’t take action.

Will my Lane Keep Assist system prevent me from changing lanes?

If the system detects that you’re trying to change lanes, it won’t stop you. This system is only to help keep you in your lane when you’re unintentionally drifting into the next lane. Signaling or steering with intention will prevent the warning.

Is a Lane Keep Assist system an automated driving system?

No, a Lane Keep Assist system is not the same as your vehicle driving itself. It still requires a driver to do the steering and speed control as well as keeping their eye on the road for other hazards. All it does is help prevent unintended lane drifting.
