Additional New Features for the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 & Heavy Duty

Earlier this month we touched on the updated 2021 GMC Sierra, highlighting the several new technologies they introduced to make trailering easier and safer than ever. But those aren’t the only things that will be new for the 2021 model year. Today we figured we’d cover a few additional new features for the Sierra 1500 & Heavy Duty that are coming to the 2021 GMC lineup.

What’s new in the Sierra 1500?

In addition to those new technologies, several other additions have been made for the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. To kick things off, the MultiPro Tailgate is now featured on the SLE and Elevation trim levels while a few new exterior color options have been introduced. When it comes to the 1500 AT4, 20” Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires and an off-road high-clearance step have been made available in the off-road pickup truck.

Conventional trailering has been further enhanced by increasing the capability of two of the vehicle’s powertrain options. The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel increases its 2WD trailering capacity by 1,900 pounds, bringing it to a max of 9,300. The 2.7L Turbo actually increases its capability by 2,300 lbs., for a total max of 9,200 lbs.

What’s new in the Sierra 2500HD & 3500HD?

As for the heavy-duty models, value has been increased in the premium trim levels. For starters, the Denali now comes standard with HD Surround Vision and Bed View cameras technology. Additionally, the Sierra HD Denali Black Diamon Edition offers exclusive 20” high-gloss black wheels and power-retractable assist steps. The Sierra Heavy Duty AT4 adds 18” Mud Terrain tires and an off-road high clearance step accessory as available features. Finally, the MultiPro Tailgate is now standard on the SLE trim and three new exterior color options were added here as well.
