2018 GMC Sierra 1500
The 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 offers three solid Ecotec3 engine options including a 4.3L V6, a 5.3L V8, and a 6.2L V8. These engines can get you anything from 285 to 420 horsepower and 305 to 460 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the six options the F-150 offers this may seem lacking, but it is respectable that GMC knows exactly which engines their vehicle will work best with, and exactly the options that will best suit their fans.
2018 Ford F-150
The 2018 Ford F-150 offers six engines which on the positive side can be looked at as versatile, but on the negative side, it can just further complicate the buying possess and be more candy than the eyes can handle. Two of the engines are Ti-VCT in V6 or V8, Two are EcoBoost in V6 or V8, One V6 EcoBoost engine labeled High-Output, and one Power Stroke Turbo Diesel engine. At a minimum, you will be getting 250 hp, and at most, you will get 450 hp. It may take some research to decide which of these many engines matches your needs, but they all deliver fairly well.
Customization
Trim levels allow you to get the features you personally need at the price you want. Both the GMC Sierra 1500 and the Ford F-150 offer their own set of trims, but at its top trim, the F-150 can start at $64,785, while the Sierra prized Denali trim will at the most start at $56,300. This makes the Sierra a bit more affordable to upgrade.
2018 GMC Sierra 1500
The 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 offers four trim levels for drivers to choose from. The best aspect of the 2018 Sierra 1500 is that it offers an amazing starting standard. The base trim comes with ten vibrant color options such as Tangier Orange and Wheatland Yellow which are definitely more eye-catching than anything the F-150 offers. You can get the base trim in any cab size, bed size, and in either 4×2 or 4×4. Not only that, but you will find any basic features you could possibly need such as two USB ports, air conditioning, traction and sway control, and a rear vision camera. Basically, it hits all the main points from entertainment to power to safety all with its first shot.
If you do feel the need to upgrade though, the SLE and ASTL are both impressive options which not only upgrade your power but also your convenience. Upgrading to the SLE trim will get you leather interior and a touch-screen radio system. Upgrading to the SLT will get you a 5.3L or 6.2L V8 Ecotec3 engine with 8-speed automatic transmission and chrome molding. Both are excellent options if you enjoy really making a truck your own personal paradise.
Finally, the Denali trim which GMC is famed for will pull everything together and make sure you are getting the best of the best options available. For the Denali trim though you must get a Crew Cab. You can’t get much better than a Denali.
2018 Ford F-150
The 2018 Ford F-150 offers seven trim levels including the XL, XLT, Lariat, Raptor, King Ranch, Platinum, and the Limited. The most comparable to the Denali trim is the King Ranch which is only available if you get a SuperCrew configuration. The Raptor is the standout trim though as the one that is only offered for those getting a SuperCab with a short bed. If you want a regular cab you will have to settle for the two lowest level trims the XL and XLT. At the other end, the limited trim level with two-panel moonroof is only for those getting a SuperCrew with a short bed. If genuine wood trimming appeals to you, then investing in the Platinum trim is the only choice. As for the Lariat trim, it is basically the perfect middle ground. Each of the 2018 Ford F-150 trims have their own advantages and disadvantages, but the only thing that matters is that the choice is always in your hands.
Configurations
2018 GMC Sierra 1500
The 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 may be considered a “light-duty” pickup by classification, but nothing about it is light. With a curb weight of 4,515 to 5,461 pounds, it outweighs the 2018 F-150 and can take a proper beating for years without skipping a beat. The body style options including cab, bed, and color will allow the 2018 Sierra 1500 to deliver just what you need.
As with majority of pickup trucks, the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 offers a wide selection of cab and bed options. The regular cab which offers two full-size doors and one row of seating is ideal for the solo traveler who just is in it for the rough and tumbles adventure. The double cab offers two full doors and two half doors with limited rear seating which is perfect for you and a few friends on a weekly fishing trip. Lastly, the crew cab offers four full-sized doors and a large rear seating space so that you and the whole family can enjoy such things as a weekend trip camping with the trailer; after all the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 has the power for it. As for bed sizes, you can get short, standard, and long which as 69.33 inches, 78.87 inches, and 97.77 inches respectively. The short is only offered with the crew cab, and the long is only offered with the regular cab.
2018 Ford F-150
The 2018 Ford F-150 offers three cab sizes including the Regular, SuperCab, or SuperCrew. These names basically indicate the amount of full and half doors, and most importantly the rear seating arrangements. If a large cabin is appealing to you, then the SuperCrew is really the only way to go, but if you don’t often have passengers then just invest in the regular. A major difference from the Sierra though is that certain trims will allow you to get the SuperCab, which offers two full doors and two half doors with the short bed option if you are willing to upgrade to the $50,675 Raptor trim. This is a unique customization option that not all pickups will offer. Overall, the trim level options and body configurations are highly connected which can be frustrating and difficult to understand at a glance. That being said, the body configurations for the F-150 are fairly standard, and you won’t find much you can’t get with the Sierra.
