There are so many choices available to you if you have been searching for an SUV that is perfect for your daily driving needs. You may have been debating the pros and cons of the 2019 Buick Encore vs 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. You will find that both of these SUVs are well-equipped with a variety of amenities like great interior space and safety and technology features. However, you will find that there are some differences between these two SUVs that you may not have thought about. When you take a look at this comparison information, you can make a more informed decision between which SUV wins the debate and is the vehicle you’ll want to buy. When compared, we found that the Buick Encore had a slight edge over the Subaru Crosstrek, here’s why.

Great features are an important selling point for the car you decide to buy. You are a savvy consumer and know what you’re looking for in a vehicle. You have a list and want to make sure that the vehicle you purchase checks all the things on that list. Maybe you want a vehicle with a cutting-edge infotainment system. You might want a vehicle that delivers on horsepower. Either way, you want to be confident and happy with your purchase, and there are plenty of criteria that will go into this major life decision.

Reliability is so important when it comes to your vehicle. You need it to get you from point A to point B each and every time. Consumer Reports has given the Buick Encore 33 points higher in ranking for reliability than the Crosstrek. J.D. Power and Associates has ranked the Encore third in reliability from data analyzed in their 2018 consumer survey. In that survey, Subaru has been ranked 24th. So if third party sites are rating your reliability we’re sure that you want to be higher up those lists.

  • Technology and Interior Design

Comfort is a key factor for many people when deciding which vehicle to buy. You don’t want you and your passengers to feel cramped on long trips. A luxurious driving experience at an affordable price is a thing of beauty if you can find it. Luckily, both the 2019 Buick Encore and 2019 Subaru Crosstrek were designed to seat up to five people and ensure that they have, at the very least, a comfortable ride.

The Encore was redesigned in 2017 and those style enhancements are carried over in the 2019 model. You can get this SUV in various trim packages like the base, Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence and Premium Trims. The Crosstrek was redesigned in 2018 and those changes are also present in the 2019 model. The Crosstrek is available in the base model as well as Premium and Limited trims.

We all have different tastes for the vehicles we drive. Some people like to find the vehicle that fits their unique personality, while others are looking for the most power. The Crosstrek has a design that makes it look as if it belongs on the trail. The fender flares are unpainted and there are bright color options available for the driver who wants to add his or her own personality. This style contrasts with the sleek lines of the Encore that offer a streamlined, yet luxurious look. It has a distinctively high-end look that is sure to turn heads while you travel but looks a little more at home in an urban environment.

The Crosstrek has slightly more interior passenger room and cargo space than the Encore. However, if distinctive style is what you’re looking for then you should take a deeper look at the Buick Encore. The Encore’s redesign in 2017 made the grille and front end more suited for the tastes of the modern driver who wants a classy look with a sleek design. All of the trim levels for the Buick Encore come with front and all-wheel drive configurations. The Crosstrek trim levels are also all available with all-wheel drive so neither of these vehicles will have you worried about less than ideal road conditions.

Buying a new 2019 model vehicle pretty much ensures that you will get some great and innovative technology features that you’re sure to love. However, not all vehicles are created equally. Some stand out with better technology features. Both the Encore and Crosstrek are equipped with cutting-edge technological features. However, the Encore stands out with some more features that may sway your mind to see that this is the better vehicle for your driving needs—if technology is your thing, of course.

We love to stay connected to our mobile devices and never want to be without a fully charged device while traveling. The Encore comes standard with USB ports, but this nice feature is not available in the Crosstrek. Additionally, you will benefit from a proximity key that comes standard with the Encore but is not available with the Crosstrek. You’ll love the keyless entry and ignition system so you can easily lock and unlock your Encore and start the engine when you are within the right range.

Another benefit with the Encore is that there are more technology features that come standard with the base trim, as compared to the base model for the Crosstrek. To achieve similar luxuries you would have to upgrade to the higher trim levels in the Crosstrek.

  • Safety and Handling

No one wants to drive a vehicle that doesn’t have great safety features to keep them and their passengers safe. Both the Buick Encore and Subaru Crosstrek are safe vehicles with innovative safety features. The new 2019 models have not yet been tested by independent and Federal testers for quality in safety features. However, the safety features in both models are the same as the previously tested 2017 models. Both vehicles have the same five-star rating for side impacts and rollovers. However, if you want the best in safety features, then the Encore has a slight edge over the Crosstrek with its better overall frontal barrier crash rating for the driver and passenger sides.

The Encore is equipped with a rearview camera and airbags, standard, however it has available safety features that include rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-departure warnings, forward collision warnings, and blind spot monitors. The Crosstrek includes similar features, however, it also includes automatic braking and adaptive cruise control. The Crosstrek has a good safety rating, but the halogen headlights on both the base and Premium trim levels earned a marginal or poor rating.

There are height-adjustable front shoulder belts in the Buick Encore as well as rear seats that include shoulder belts with comfort child guides so you can easily ensure a proper fit for your child. This precision and comfort fit feature will keep your child safer in the event of an accident. Unfortunately, the Crosstrek only features the height adjustable seat belts in the front and there is no comfort guide for the rear seats.

Another thing to point out, the Encore has a plastic fuel take that was designed to handle impacts without leaking so there is a reduced risk of fire. The fuel tank in the Crosstrek is a more traditional metal and doesn’t stand up to the plastic tank of the Encore.

Once you know that your vehicle is safe then you can really start enjoying the ride. Most people enjoy driving a vehicle that handles well and offers a smooth ride quality whether driving on the highway or in the city. If you want an SUV that handles well and offers a refined ride, then the Buick Encore is perfect for you.

The Subaru Crosstrek may get slightly more points for performance, however, the Encore was designed for the refined driver who wants a luxurious ride that has better cornering capacity and acceleration. The Crosstrek is a great ride when driving in town and off-roading, but again, it does not provide the best acceleration and passing power during highway driving and is somewhat better suited for off-road experience and not day to day use.
