It may look a lot like the 2013 Regal, with only a few minor tweaks to the exterior in the front and rear fascias, but the 2014 Buick Regal boasts big changes in places you won’t necessarily see–but in places you’ll certainly feel. The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is an impressive 18% increase over last year’s Regal Turbo model at 259 horsepower. A reshaped engine torque curve is designed to deliver maximum engine torque as low as 1,700 rpm, resulting in snappy acceleration sometimes missing in turbocharged vehicles. And for those of you who prefer fuel economy, the eAssist system replaces the turbocharged engine with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and achieves 25/36 mpg.
Also new to the 2014 Regal is an available all-wheel-drive system that improves traction in poor conditions and performance during spirited drives. Paired with an electronic limited slip differential, the AWD system sends more power to the wheels with more grip, maximizing your control behind the wheel.
For the ultimate Regal driving experience, the GS model includes various performance enhancements throughout the vehicle. Choose between Sport and GS mode with a touch of a button, and the suspension tightens for a flatter, stiffer ride that increases body control. The large four-piston Brembo brakes are as powerful as they look, capable of hard use without fading. The 2014 Regal GS comes out faster, smoother, and more responsive than its impressively quick standard little brother.
Inside the cabin, the redesigned dashboard features touch-sensitive controls, a color touch display screen, and intuitively placed buttons. The gauge cluster is clean and sophisticated, with premium materials throughout. In the GS trim, standard leather sport seats showcase the comfort and style that is unmistakably Buick. Also included is the most advanced IntelliLink system to date, displayed on an 8-inch screen with hands free voice operation and Bluetooth connectivity.
When it comes to safety, Buick sets the standard. The 2014 Regal offers a host of safety technologies to keep you out of harm’s way. Forward Collision Alert monitors what’s ahead, sending audio and visual alerts when approaching danger. Adaptive cruise control automatically adjusts speed to maintain a driver-selected distance between your Regal and that terrible driver yet to figure out left lanes are for passing. Through a camera mounted near the license plate, Rear Cross Traffic Alert shows what’s behind your vehicle while backing up and alerts you when vehicles approach from either direction–up to 65 feet away. Finally, Side Blind Zone Alert and Lane Change Alert offers a virtual radar that helps prevent collisions at speed. If someone is approaching too fast from behind, you’ll know 230 feet in advance.
The 2014 Buick Regal starts at $29,690 MSRP, and the turbo is standard. What are you waiting for?
